About CompressGIF
CompressGIF helps you reduce GIF file size with Gifsicle 1.96. Use the browser tool for private, local compression, with previews and target-size controls.
The tool is intended for reaction GIFs, interface recordings, short tutorials and animations that need to fit an upload limit. You can compare the original and compressed animation before saving. Keeping the animation useful matters more than reporting a large reduction percentage.
The browser and cloud tools use Gifsicle 1.96. Quality, size and target modes change the compression settings; they do not ask a language model to redraw the animation. AI clients can use MCP to request the same cloud compression tasks that a script submits through REST.
Local processing means selected GIF contents stay on your device. Importing an image address makes a direct request to its host. API and MCP workflows instead send data to Cloudflare-hosted processing and use temporary file storage. Choose the path that fits your privacy and automation needs.
Compression results depend on the source. We keep dimensions and playback timing by default, require an explicit resize choice, and retain the original if no smaller candidate is found. Some files cannot reach a requested target with acceptable detail. Preview the result rather than assuming every file will shrink by the same amount.
The developer documentation provides downloadable source for the browser compressor and MCP adapter, together with API examples. You can try local compression without an account, compare plans for larger batches, or contact support with a reproducible problem.
